Hello, I am Joe Burch. Father, educator, and sportsman. I have worked in education for over 25 years. I am currently licensed in Secondary and Elementary Education in Idaho, Montana, and Nevada.

My career has taken me from Europe to Alaska and across the western United States. I have taught at all elementary grade levels as well as junior high in language arts, secondary social studies and history, and advanced placement American Literature. I have worked in school districts as a curriculum/instructional coach in Nevada and Montana. I have also served as a school district testing and data coordinator, and somewhere in between all of that, I have also spent some time as a special education instructor.

Although I have worked in schools with as many as 1,100 students, I seem to have found my niche in small, rural, multi-grade classrooms. If you can imagine the little red schoolhouse with all grade levels, kindergarten through eighth grade, I have taught there. Looking back over my career, I can count at least 17 years of experience teaching in classrooms with students across three different grade levels simultaneously. These kids have come from ranches and farms, from homesteading families, from logging and mining communities, and have lived in homes just like yours. Most of my own time growing up was spent on my family’s ranch in Southwest Idaho.

This experience provides me with a unique and specialized foundation of knowledge and classroom success that can become part of your family's homeschool success. I take great pride in my Western agricultural roots. I have lived the lifestyle and done the work. I know the challenges that come with running a ranch or farm. I also realize that sometimes work comes before other considerations. Life and business on the ranch or farm can’t stop for a long school commute or traditional school schedule. There are also times when everyone in the family pitches in to get a job done. But that doesn't mean your kids have to settle for less in their education.
